Mariner’s Compass

Free-Standing Applique (or not)

I made these compasses to go into my Love Flying Geese heart project. As of this writing I have an overall layout planned for the project. However, after making these compasses I must make more. A second project perhaps? Hope so.

This design has 8 appliques.

Because I wasn't completely confident I would be pleased with my appliqué fabric selections each time, I added a step to make these into freestanding appliqués. However, these designs can be sewn directly onto your project without that step, should you desire to do so.

This design has five appliques.

The bottom appliqué fabric shows well in this design. I love how the variegated fabrics show off their rainbow of colors and enough details to make you want to look closer. I made three of these for my project.

I have a layout planned for this project that includes this Mariner’s Compass and the #2 Mariner’s Compass designs shown above

I have not applied them to the background fabric as yet because I need to make more geese designs to go with them. I hope you will follow along as my project develops.
