I love borders and frames, especially fancy ones. I made these to go around my kaleidoscope blocks from the Kaleidoscope Series. One of those blocks is an unlikely addition to the series but I couldn’t resist adding it in. They are Purple Feathers, 10 Point Star, Glorious Hearts, and Floral Fountains.

My Kaleidoscope series, ready to frame.

Although made for the kaleidoscope blocks, the 8 x 8 free-standing frames can be used for any size design up to 8 x 8 inches square.

The 6 x 6 free-standing frames can be used for any designs up to 6x6 inches square.

This overall project is not complete yet!  You will see it when I see it. Grins

Floral Fountain Collection

These designs can be made as free-standing frames (not free-standing lace). Visit my tutorial pages Making Embroidery Frames (coming soon) to see how these are made.

This is how I made the plum frames around the Kaleidoscope blocks.

This keeps the center fabric intact for sewing a design onto. This is how I made the navy pillow project.

Floral Fountains & Lacy Hearts Frame

Because these designs had to be so large to actually frame 8x8, 7x7, 6x6 designs, they had to be divided into sections. Depending on the size of you machines hoop, these designs will need to be sewn more than once, then assembled into a frame.

The option to sew the two hearts in a different color is given as well. You can make all of the corners this way or make just one and the rest of the corners all one color. Or you can simply sew them all without changing colors for the hearts. The hearts are still in there but they are all the same color as the rest of the design.

I added the 6 inch Floral Fountains design to the center of the navy pillow so that it would ‘poof’ on it’s own. See my Making Embroidery Frames (coming soon) to find out how I did this.

I just thought this looked neat! I love adding dimension to my designs.
