”Insertion Lace - Diamonds”

“Insertion Lace - Diamonds” is an heirloom technique that can be stitched on most fabrics. The designs require fabric, water soluble stabilizer, and an optional wing needle. They are sewn in one color.

These sew with just the wing needle.
All of the blue designs shown below are sewn with the wing needle.The wing needle parts the fibers of woven fabric and the stitches hold the ‘holes’ open.

Ribbon can be woven into the ‘lacey’ areas.
I tied knots at the points for added dimension.

Sewn on white interrlock cotton knit

Add more partial diamonds on the ends to entend the designs in an echo pattern.
Shown here with one more extension on each end for 5 diamonds layout.
Use designs 10, 11, 12, 13 below to extend the designs in an echo pattern the length of your choice.
