You’ll want to use tear-away stabilizer. I’m partial to Pellon’s Stitch-N-Tear.
Topstitch needles are a machine embroiderer’s friend, as they’re important for getting
straight lines. Universal and ball point needles sew between the weave/knit of a fabric,
making them good choices for fabrics that stretch or shred. However, their stitches are not
as straight as those made by a good, sharp top stitch needle, which can sew through the
fabric strands, making the topstitch needle the prefer choice for long-fiber natural fabrics
and no-stretch synthetics. So, keep a pack or two topstitch needles on hand for your next
embroidery project inspiration.
